I have a couple of posts in drafts. But for my 200th post, I thought I should post this valentine day poem that KB wrote in his class (based on the five senses). Wishing all the lovely people I have come to know and their wonderful children that I read about a wonderful Valentine's day. Hallmark's day, yes. But still, a chance to send happy thoughts along! Here's the poem.
Love tastes like warm cooked green peas
Love smells like fresh homemade orange juice
Love feels like a new Harry Potter book
Love looks like a waterfall after a hike
Love sounds like when my parents say “good job” after I write a story!

Aparna - Thanks. Wow - so far away in India - the kids are doing the same activity in class. How sweet! I thought it was a nice idea from his teacher. May be this is a standard exercise for this age group during Val day. Post his poem - will be fun to read.

Thanks - abt KB's poem. HP - sort of by accident he started reading it early this yr. Someone gifted him the set of HP DVD's - he read the back cover and asked me if I can buy him the book since it seemed very interesting...so I got it for him and now he is totally hooked. He reads when he has time after his school, going to park etc. He finished book 1 and then begged me for book 2. I resisted for a while bcz that's all he wants to do if he is not in school or at a class or park...KG keeps talking to him when he is reading on and on and they fight because he gets annoyed that she is not letting him read in peace. Finally I relented and got him book 2 and now he is almost finishing that book. I don't want him to read beyond book 3 now cz am afraid he will get nightmares. As it is he gets them.
Actually I think any kid who reads chapter books can read HP. Not really that much more difficult to read or anything. Just has a ton of characters and they need to keep track and comprehend the story. I think you should get it for V also - he might really enjoy it now.

Yes, the thoughts expressed by these children are all innocent - life feels so simple and straight forward when you read their writing.
OK I thought I commented here, but I don't see my comment. I think I know what the problem is Noonie. Blogspot has changed, the comment form. Before the login and password would be on the same page as this comments section and we used to login before actually pressing the 'publish your comment' button. But when we press the 'publish your comment' button now it opens up a new window with the login and password prompt. if we forget to login from that page, the comment is lost. I don't know if this makes sense, but I think that is how our comments are getting lost.
This boy totally floors me with his amazing talents Noonie. And he is quite funny too! (just read your new post). Such an irresistible combination :) M and N have started reading HP just now and have finished 3 books in a span of two weeks. Just like you, I am withholding the fourth one, because even as an adult, when I read it, I felt scared. But they simply cannot bear the suspense and they want to read the fourth part immediately. I am dilly-dallying right now.
MN - I know what you mean with the comments page - I think that's how some of them got lost.
HP - I have heard this has happened to many parents - this dilemma - they give them the first few books - but the kids end up waiting for a while to read the next three for over a year because the parents feel kids are not ready to handle it. KB is now waiting for me to buy him the third. Meanwhile he is reading Asterix. He only has four books. THey cost so much - 9 or 10 bucks each. How many to buy for these kids. HP wait is not going to be fun for these kids and I understand how frustrating it must be for them not getting their hands on it. KB of course will tell my cousin or my sis and they will immediately send it to him if I don't buy it for him.
